Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Review | Ragequitters.co.uk

DirectX 11 - Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5

Grand Theft Auto V is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games.  The game is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV.

Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas’s open countryside and fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.

Another solid NVIDIA title, the Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 Ti performs very well with a 129 FPS average at 1080p, however, we are CPU bound here again at our lowest tested resolution which produces some placement anomalies.

Average frame-rates of the Radeon R9 FuryX, 280X and R9 290 manage to keep pace fairly well with their NVIDIA counterparts, however, the later two cards seem to encounter issues with the occasional slight ‘stutter’ that causes a sudden dip in the minimum frame-rate as shown in the chart above.

The Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 Ti again shows what an excellent pairing this card makes with a 144hz 1440p monitor with an average frame-rate again hitting the maximum refresh rate of the panel.  This resolution produces a good even spread of results, scaled as expected between each card in our test.

  1. Now that’s a damned fine review Mr T. 😉
You make me regret going with the EVGA 1080 Ti SC (Superclocked) GPU after reading this. 🙂
